ABOUT

My work as a sculptor is deeply rooted in a material-based approach. I do not view the material as a passive medium, but rather as an active interlocutor. Through direct carving, I explore the human form via biomorphic abstraction, positioned at the intersection of the planned and the unpredictable.

My 2026 projects, particularly the SORGE series, mark a turning point in my artistic practice. Following a year defined by personal loss, adversity, and physical challenges, my focus shifted from a purely aesthetic exploration of the body to a deeper reflection on vulnerability. I began to seek beauty in the damaged.

I work with wood that bears the marks of time and the forces of nature—such as elm weathered by fungi, insects, or the elements. Rather than masking these «defects,» I allow them to dictate the form. The cracks and scars in the wood become physical manifestations of our own internal wounds. For me, beauty is no longer a matter of mimesis or perfection, but of the profound harmony that emerges when one dares to face their fears and acknowledge the traces life leaves behind.

Through the dialogue between heavy masses, open voids, and the contrast between polished surfaces and raw textures, I invite the viewer into a tactile encounter with the human experience. My sculptures are not merely objects in space; they are testimonies of resilience and the hidden beauty within that which has been broken, yet still remains.
